When I am wandering in the woods I am always discovering interest objects that delight my eye. A curled piece of fallen birch bark, a bit of moss, a stone or shell ends up in my pack. I especially like unusual driftwood. In a recent trip to Northern California, I discovered these unique hanging baskets and bird houses. A great way to creatively put my forest finds in use.
I'm going to visit the local lumber mill and check the salvage piles for scraps to combine with driftwood.
Driftwood Designs For Hanging Baskets
These baskets will look great with forest moss packed between the driftwood pieces.
I was told these were crafted by starting at the bottom and using construction glue such as a tube of Liquid Nails, to join the pieces. The glue is waterproof and super strong. The shape was retained by working around a form such as an old beach ball. After the glue is firmly set, deflate the ball and remove.
Be careful not to get any glue on the ball.
For the truly creative, these can be made free-form.
Please post your comments and suggestions. I would love to hear from you and exchange ideas. How do you attract the birds to your yard?
